Air from the Yukon brought the temperature down considerably in Southern Saskatchewan to start the new week.

Meteorologist Robyn Dyck said a cold front followed a low-pressure system that tracked south of Moose Jaw, along the US border.

"What followed is an arctic ridge of high pressure that basically came from the Yukon. It brought a whole bunch of cold temperatures with it," said Dyck.

In the Environment Canada forecast, there is a risk of frostbite expected Monday night, with wind chill values in the -30 C realm.

But temperatures will soon rise to more typical levels.

"The next few days we should have a bit of a reprieve as we get to a bit of a westerly push," said Dyck.

The cold weather overshadowed the snow in Moose Jaw over the weekend. However, that's not the case everywhere. A station near Assiniboia, where a snowfall warning was in effect, recorded 10 centimeters.
