A fitting way to put winter away for another year, snowfall to start the new work week has left a nice blanket on the Moose Jaw area.  But the new flakes won't last long as spring officially arrives Tuesday and with it some warmer weather.

The new forecast is showing that we'll slowly climb all the way to +8 by Thursday but winter isn't about to let go as we could see some flurries again on Friday.

With spring on the horizon, many are wondering if there will be enough moisture in the snow this year to replenish the soil following last year's dry spell. Meteorologist Drew Lerner with World Weather Inc. is giving us some insight on what to expect. He says at this point, farmers in most areas of the province should have sufficient moisture to at least get the crop in the ground.

"Being able to sustain the crop without good follow up rain is going to be difficult to do. So, we're going to be behind the eight ball for a while... (we need) regular occurring rainfall or at least a good soaking to get down into that subsoil, other wise we may be in a little trouble because there's not going to be that reserve to fall back on."

Lerner has the month of May circled on his calendar as the time that we could see the best best precipitation.
