Once again the city of Moose Jaw residents will be hitting the polls, this time for a by-election.

Wednesday will see people stepping out of work or using their spare time to share their opinion on who they feel should fill the empty seat on city council.

Other than asking 'who are you voting for', the other question that comes to mind is 'are you going to vote?'. It seems that most are planning to exercise their right to vote in the 2018 by-election, and it also gives us a chance to look back and think about the last time we filled out a ballot.

Back in 2016 41% of eligible voters participated in the election process, meaning 11,305 out of a possible 27,500 eligible Moose Jaw voters marked a ballot. A contributing factor in the turnout in 2016 was a referendum on how to pay for cast iron replacement.

That being said officials are hopeful residents take the time on Wednesday to fill out a ballot and express who they want in a top seat at the city hall sitting on council.
