The Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation (SWF) is informing all hunters that they will not be accepting animal hides this year and will not be setting out collection bins this year, or for the foreseeable future.

The reason they collected them was that they had a buyer for the hides, but no longer do according to the Habitat Land Coordinator for the SWF Darren Newberry.

"Well there is a company within Saskatchewan that buys them from us and then they turn around and they ship them off or they sell them to different countries and things like that but they were informed that their buyers were no longer buying them for this year so they didn't have a market to sell them."

If you need a place to dispose of any hides, the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment advises that all hides be double bagged and disposed at a permitted landfill.
