Now that most of the Christmas unwrapping is done, the City of Moose Jaw has a few reminders as to what can - and can't - be thrown into our blue recycle bins.

There's a lot of trash associated with the giving season, but City Hall is hoping not all of it ends up in our garbage cans.

"We want to remind people to continue to try and divert all that waste," explained Municipal Operations Manager Darrin Stephanson. "There will be a lot of wrapping paper, plastic, boxes, etc, from the Christmas season and we certainly encourage that to go into the recycling stream."

However, Stephanson noted that not all items are accepted into the recycling program.

"Generally, your paper products is what can go into the (recycling) bin, and plastic as well. Things like foam do not go into the recycling stream, it can not be reprocessed, that's kind of your general guidelines for recycling," he said.

Tinsel and bows can't go into our recycling bins either.
