A weather advisory was in effect for various parts of southern Saskatchewan Wednesday afternoon.

Meteorologists were monitoring a system that was moving over our area and placed an advisory on communities including Moose Jaw, Mortlach, Parkbeg, Eyebrow, Briercrest and a number of other RMs and municipalities.

Systems like the one that passed, has the potential to develop funnel clouds as a weak rotation under a rapidly growing cloud mix. And could also turn into a land spout tornado and could be strong enough to topple trees, move furniture and damage roofs.

With this rapid change in Moose Jaw's forecast we could see thunderstorms and showers roll across the prairies, followed by extreme heat.

Officials would like residents to treat systems liek these with caution and proceed to shelter immediately if they see a funnel cloud at any time.
