Looking for a way to pass some time during the holidays with your family? Well, the Western Development Museum in town is still open and has a number of activities the whole family can take part in - in-person or online.

Karla Rasmussen from the museum, explains one of the activities they're offering with help from other provincial W-D-M's

"We have a booklet called "Christmas at the WDM' and this can be done both in-person or at home, there are some prompts that lead you through the galleries but there's also something you can do on your own time too. It's a great comparison about winter, Christmas, traveling, how things have changed over the last 100 years. It's fun and educational."

If you're looking for something a little shorter, or something younger kids can take part in, they've also got a scavenger hunt going on at the museum where you can enter to win a gift basket.

Rasmussen says she knows many people want to get out of the house right now, but that they may be hesitant. She ensures residents that the museum is perfectly safe for you to take your family for an afternoon out.

"We've got a fairly big space here so we feel that we can safely physically distance. We do have hand sanitizer stations throughout the museum, and for our regular visitors - we've maybe changed a few of the galleries you're used to going through on your own - to one-directional pathways. You get a map when you come in, there are arrows on the floor, and that way we can make sure that everyone has their own safe space."

For more information on their ongoing programs, both within the museum and at home, you can visit wdm.ca.

The museum will be closed from December 25-29, open again on the 30th and 31st, closed on New Year's Day, then open again on the 2nd.
