The holiday season hits the Western Development Museum in Moose Jaw as Kids' Secret Shopping returns. Karla Rasmussen is getting the local museum into the holiday spirit by bringing back this local tradition.

“Kids get to go inside the shopping room with our volunteer elves, no parents are allowed in there, and the elves help the children pick out gifts for their family. The child comes prepared with a little list - who they're shopping for, ages of other children, and a budget. The elves will help them stay in those parameters and the kids come out with their gifts all wrapped and ready for Christmas. You should see the look of pride on their faces having chosen everything themselves. It's wonderful.”

WDM members can take part in Kids' Secret Shopping on Thursday. Then the event opens to the public on Saturday at the same time as Breakfast with Mrs. Claus.

“It's a two-fold event. The breakfast with Mrs. Claus is actually organized and run by the local Girl Guide group, and it's one of their biggest fundraisers of the year. So that runs from 9:00 to 11:00 and tickets are on sale now. You can contact a Girl Guide or stop by the museum and grab those. And the other thing the Girl Guides have going on that day is their bake-sale, so that starts right at 9 am and it goes until they sell out.”

Tickets are $5 per person with children 3 and under getting in for free, and they are available at the Western Development Museum or from the Girl Guides.
