Like many homes in Moose Jaw, Mosaic Place also suffers from brown water from time to time

More upgrades are on the way to Mosaic Place and this time it's to do with the water.  Since the facility opened, brown water, filled with particulate has been plugging sensors and causing increased maintenance of equipment.

Parks and Recreation Director Jody Hauta believes the cause is the aging waterlines in the downtown core, saying the construction of the facility might have loosed up some of the rust.

"That created further deterioration of the cast iron water lines in the area which has resulted in particles and sediment flowing into the building and what that does is it creates issues with the mechanical equipment within the facility because a lot of them are operated based on electronic sensors and those sorts of things."

Looking to prevent further work or possible damage, $42,000 is being invested in a filtration system that will remove the particles before they enter the system.  The hope is to have it installed by next fall.
