After a week of wacky weather including everything from rain, high winds, thunder, lightning, tornadoes, and hail, it appears some real summer weather is going to stick around.

Slightly above seasonal highs have moved into the area and look like they won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

"We have a bit of an upper-ridge building in from the south and what that tends to do is bring us some warmer temperatures," said Terri Lang, a Regional Meteorologist with Environment Canada. "There is also some high humidity right now so that will bump up those humidex values."

Temperatures are expected to hover right around the 30° mark for the next few days and into next week. This weekend is shaping up to be a good one.

"Saturday and Sunday will be nice warm days," Lang noted. "It will be cooling off for Monday and Tuesday but build back up for Wednesday. They aren't record-breaking temperatures by any stretch, but the warmth is certainly welcome."

While it will be warm, Weyburn will be hard-pressed to break any heat records for this time of year. The record high for July 12 is 36.7°, for July 13 is 34.8° and for July 14 is 38°.

It may feel that warm with the humidity over the next few days, but the thermometers aren't expected to reach those temps.

However, with the humidity in the air, there is always the potential for some thundershowers. Lang believes we may see a storm on Saturday night and into Sunday morning.

"Over the next couple of days, we are going to see some thunderstorms developing, of course, it will be hit-and-miss as it usually is."

With school out for the summer, people starting to take holidays and now some hot and sunny weather — it appears summer is finally here.
