Snow on the ground and below zero temperatures are usually quite common in November in Saskatchewan, but this year without snow has allowed city crews to accomplished much more work than normal.

Moose Jaw Mayor Deb Higgins says the warmer conditions have allowed one of their partners to stay open longer, helping to extend the season.

"Cypress Paving, where we get our asphalt from, their plant is usually closed at the end of October because we're into colder and snowy weather, but it was open a lot longer and it allowed us to get some of the good repairs done on roads and that was a big help."

Higgins says road, water and sewer projects will continue until a hard freeze happens.  So far, crews have completed 54 additional pavement repairs and 25 concrete projects because of the warmer than normal weather.

We're expecting highs above zero for at least the rest of the week, when we would normally see about -4 during the day at this time of the year.
