Signs are popping up across South Hill, distributed by the Wakamow Valley Authority, to express concerns over a proposed subdivision off of Seventh Avenue Southwest.

The signs read "Protect Our Park, We Need Your Help."

"We're hoping that the signs just make people aware of the project and then make sure that they are able to contact their councillors and let me know exactly how they feel about the project and, of course in a respectful manner, making sure City Hall understands how they feel about it," said Wakamow Valley Authority general manager Todd Johnson.

The proposed subdivision, River Pointe Park, would be located along Seventh Avenue Southwest, north of the Moose Jaw River in the River Valley.

The subdivision would include 29 single-family units and 81 multi-family units. The project has gone to public consultation because it would mean making changes to the official community plan.

The project has been met with a lot of resistance in the community, with a Facebook page and online petition being created by members of the public.

Johnson says so far the Wakamow Valley Authority has gotten a lot of feedback.

"If anyone is getting half the amount of emails that I'm getting then it is a really great response. There is also an online petition that is going around, Wakamow is not involved with that, but there seems to be a great response on that as well on social media."

Anyone interested in having a sign for their front lawn can contact the Wakamow Valley Authority office.

Those with questions or comments for the city about the project can contact Planning and Development Services by email at planning@moosejaw.ca to by calling 306-694-4443

Letters regarding the consultation process were to be delivered to all residents within a 250-metre radius of the proposed site.
