Monday was a big step for various local groups and residents in need as a new affordable Housing Project officially opened its doors, known as Wakamow Place II.

Kim Tyndall is an Affordable Housing Consultant for the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation and explained people with complex needs, need secure housing to succeed. "Anyone who has a stable home environment, it provides them with a better overall quality of life in the long run."

"People who have access to quality housing, can pursue education, they can secure employment, they can raise families. It just, overall, helps the individuals but helps them be an active member in the community as well."

The new building is equipped with 12 separate units providing a clean and safe living space for residents.
