The average weekly earnings in Saskatchewan were higher this past September than they were the previous year, according to the latest numbers from Statistics Canada. Their payroll employment, earnings and hours survey for September came out this week and showed the average weekly earnings in the province was $1,099.18. This was below the national average of $1,110.69.  

The highest wages in Saskatchewan were found in the mining, quarrying, oil and gas extraction sector, where the average weekly wage was $1,856.10. Other industries above the provincial average include Construction ($1,393.12), Manufacturing ($1,210.98) and finance and insurance ($1,326.60) 

The lowest weekly earnings were in the accommodation and food services, where the average weekly earnings were $430.68. Arts, entertainment and recreation had an average wage of $629.53 and trade, which includes retail, had average weekly earnings of $821.20.
