High Street here in Moose Jaw has taken 'top honours' in the past.
And CAA is once again asking for your vote on the worst roads in Saskatchewan.

Christine Niemszyk, Director of Communications and Public Relations, said the purpose of the campaign is to allow all types of road users, motor cyclists, cyclists, pedestrians, drivers, tell them which road is a concern to them for safety reasons. "Maybe it's potholes, crumbling pavement, not enough signage, infrastruture is old and might need some refreshing" said Niemszyk.

It gives the public an opportunity to let them know which road or roads are a concern.

Niemszyk added "there are also some road users out there who are concerned that there could be vehicle or cycle damage as well."

The voting is open to everyone, whether you're driving for work, leisure, biking or walking, they want your votes.

"The nice thing about the campaign", said Niemszyk, "meaning we can hear from a lot of road users, we do know there's around 224 thousand kilometres in Saskatchewan. A lot of people using our roads. Yes it does bring results. We did launch the campaign with a local business in Moose Jaw on High St West who said that after campaigning, things went much quicker the road is fixed and everyone is much happier. We have had in previous campaigns the same sort of positive response, it does bring attention, public awareness, education to the need to fix some of the roads and again those are the roads a lot of us are using on our daily lives be it for commercial business or recreation purposes."

You can nominate and vote on their website, and what you see are the top 10 currently. "Now some other roads in Saskatchewan are most likely nominated, just hasn't recieved the vote status to make it to the top 10", said Niemszyk. "We try to narrow it to the top 10 worst roads because that's just a better way for us to track the roads as opposed to the top 50 or top 100. So nominate and vote, the campaign is on now. We launched it in Moose Jaw on April 17th, and we are going to run the campaign until May 8th. The top 10 worst roads for 2019 will be announced on May 9th."

The top 10 list changes every 3 to 4 hours. It depends entirely on the votes. Niemszyk said "We are allowing one vote, per email, per road, every 24 hours. But if you wanted to nominate a road, you could do that. You would have that vote for a 24 hour period. you could go on after 24 hours and vote again if that same road is a concern to you. Or you could vote and nominate another road."

Voting closes on May 8th. And they will release the final top 10 on May 9th.To vote, head to caask.ca/worstroads.
