The Moose Jaw Search and Rescue (MJSAR) team is looking for new volunteers.

The MJSAR is a community-based charitable organization. It works as a resource for the Moose Jaw Police Service, RCMP, and Emergency Measures Organization (EMO).

"Moose Jaw Search and Rescue team responds to police requests for call-outs to search for missing persons and in some cases, we also search for evidence depending on what the police are requesting of us," says Tami MacNevin, Preventative Search and rescue Coordinator and Team Lead.

The team is hosting an information session on November 25th at the Jones Parkview Funeral Home at 474 Hochelaga Street West at 7:30 pm.

The session is open to anyone interested in becoming a volunteer for the team.

In order to join, people must provide an application form, a police check, and a one-time registration fee of $60.

"The fee for $60 is to help cover the cost of books and training. We do a lot of training. There is a book that they (the volunteers) will need and we provide all of that information to them," says MacNevin.

Application forms can be requested through the 'contact' section on the MJSAR website and Facebook page. The application will then be sent to your address. Applications and police check forms will also be available at the session.

Anyone who wishes to join the team must attend this information session in order to be accepted.

The MJSAR will use this session to inform people about the training and what is expected of volunteers.
