The Better Together Food Drive is coming up on Thursday, and it's all in support of The Moose Jaw and District Food Bank.

The Food Drive will see people going door to door to collect food donations for the food bank which will support it in the upcoming winter months.

Karen MacNaughton is the Office Manager at the Hillcrest Church here in Moose Jaw and detailed how you can volunteer.

"We prefer if you didn't just show up, we prefer if you sign up, then we know what to expect especially for the door to door canvassers. So if you think you could go door to door, wonderful. Call the church at 692-5600, find our facebook page 'Better Together City-Wide Food Drive', or online at our website 'hillcrestmj.com' the sign-up sheet will pop right up for you."

Most houses in Moose Jaw should have had a brown paper bag dropped off at their door or in their mailbox. All residents are asked to fill that bag with non-perishable food items for the Food Bank. On Halloween night, volunteers will be at your door between 6-9 pm, with all food being brought back to the Exhibition Grounds for sorting and weighing.

Deann Little is with The Moose Jaw and District Food Bank and commented on where the food bank is at right now.

"We're just coming out of our low season and we just had the Farm Credit Canada Food Drive that helped to boost us up somewhat and now we're ready to get rocking and rolling on this one."

The Moose Jaw and District Food Bank provided assistance to nearly 9,500 people this past year alone and rely solely on donations made by the community.
