70 years of aviation in Saskatchewan and 75 years since the D Day landings are both monumental pieces of the past, and they are both being honoured here in Moose Jaw.

Coinciding with these, and for the first time in 14 years, the Airshow returns July 6th and 7th.

Captain Blake McNaughton, air operations director for the Saskatchewan Air Show said they have a number of unique additions to the show this year, including many vintage planes that haven't flown in years.

"Beyond some of our headliners, the home grown world famous snowbirds, the CF 18 demo that will be travelling across Canada. And the US Airforce F16 Viper, which puts on one heck of a show. We're also celebrating the 70 years of aviation here in Saskatchewan and Moose Jaw. So we will be seeing some trainers, like the T33 jet trainer, they are returning with Ace Maker. We also have Yellow Thunder, two vintage Harvard aircraft. You'll recognize them from our poster, those beautiful aircraft that represented British commonwealth air training plan that trained so many men who went across to the second world war. June 6th, 2019, is the 75th anniversary of the landings in Normandy, the D Day landings, and there's going to be a large celebration going on to commemorate that event, and we'll be doing that at 15 Wing Moose Jaw as well. We have a vintage Spit Fire that will be flying, and a P 40. Not only will they be flying in formation, but rarely seen they'll be doing aerobatic acts. That's the Dakota territory museum down in Minot, they'll be flying up to help us out. It's going to be something special."

With over 8000 tickets already sold, it's set to be an incredible experience. With NATO countries coming here for training, people come from all around the world to see Moose Jaw and 15 Wing.

"We have approximately 24 vendors already planned," said McNaughton, "and if you're still interested in coming, contact us and we can try to find you a place on the ramp. It's going to be a full ramp. We have a lot of airplanes coming from all around North America, and then with the people, the vendors, the people, there's going to be a lot to do that's for sure."
