The property of the old Valley View Centre is now officially for sale. 

Divided into five separate parcels, the Ministry of Central Services is now accepting proposals for the purchase of any or all five. 

The deadline to submit proposal packages is 2 p.m. CST on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2019. All proposers will be notified on or before Jan. 15, 2020 as to the success of their submissions.

The parcels combined total 200.74 acres, or 32,002.76 square meters, some of which is connected by underground tunnels. 

The Wakamow Valley Authority is currently under a short term land lease agreement for 28.13 acres for the Kingsway Ecological Zone Trail (parcel #1). That lease is set to expire March 31, 2020.

A phase one environmental assessment was conducted on all parcels of land. According to the RFP package proposal documents, findings from that initial investigation warranted the preparation of an environmental corrective action plan on approximately 2,000 sq. feet of land within parcel #2. 

The environmental report also found that there may be building material containing asbestos in some of the 23 structures. 

The full report and the environmental corrective action plan will not be made publicly available until the successful proponent of parcel #2 is determined. 

An open house to view the buildings and property is scheduled for Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. All proponents interested are asked to meet at the Government Services Office in the Maintenance building.

Parcel 1: 69.32 acres of bare land, zoned for Urban Holding (UH). Located west of the former Hospital Administration building that overlooks Wakamow Valley.

Parcel 2: 50.9 acres, zoned Community Service/Institutional (CS). Some portions of the property along the valley walls are zoned as CSs1 and CSs2 as CS slump control. Contains 16 buildings, including the incinerator, gazebo, occupational therapy building, and Hawk Cottage. 

Parcel 3: 78.4 acres, zoned CS. Contains seven buildings including two garages, a quanset, and food services building. Located along the southern end of the parcel. 

Parcel 4: 1.95 acres, unencumbered bare land. Located northeast of the Valley View Centre buildings. Zoned UH with a portion of the property along the valley walls being zoned UHs2 as UH slump control. 

Zone 5: 0.19 acres, unencumbered bare land. Located east of 7th ave SW, and southeast of the former Administration building. Zoned partially Floodway and River Valley Conservation.
