The role of vaccine passports in Saskatchewan is still being debated, although the provincial government has stated they won’t be changing their mind on not requiring them.

Health Minister Paul Merriman stated those who want to attend large events such as football games in Saskatchewan won’t need a vaccine passport, adding the government doesn’t want to segregate people.

The move is being criticized by the province’s opposition NDP. Leader Ryan Leili pointed to the United States, where a number of events such as hockey games and basketball games have required proof of vaccination.

So far in Saskatchewan, 74 percent of those over the age of 12 have received their first dose of a vaccine, and 61 percent of those over 12 are now fully vaccinated.
