Eligibility

Effective Friday morning at 8 a.m., all residents aged 40 and up will be eligible to book their vaccine. This applies to all appointments booked online and over the phone, along with drive-thru/walk-ins, pharmacies, and mobile clinics.

The eligibility expansion will also include all remaining prioritized front-line workers. This includes;

  • Firefighters,
  • Educational staff working with students,
  • Correctional staff and border security officers, and;
  • Front-line health care workers with direct patient contact.

Notice of eligibility is being provided to regulatory bodies and associations. To confirm that you are included in this front-line worker category, call 1-833-SaskVax (1-833-727-5829) or email covid19@health.gov.sk.ca.

Appointments can be made on the Government of Saskatchewan website by clicking here, or you can call 1-833-SaskVax (1-833-727-5829).

Local Clinics

The expansion of those eligible is made possible thanks to a restocked supply of vaccines in the province, and those additional doses will also allow the Saskatchewan Health Authority to open two more clinics here in Moose Jaw.

On Sunday, May 2, a drive-thru clinic will be open in Moose Jaw from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the South Hill Fire Hall, located at 750 Lillooet St. W. The clinic is open to everyone 40 and up and will operate on a first-come-first-serve basis. Those attending are asked to enter the queue at the intersection of Home St. E at 4th Avenue SW.

Furthermore, a clinic reserved for appointments made ahead of time will open on Monday, May 3, at the Moose Jaw Exhibition Grounds from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Any resident aged 40 and over can book their shot (after 8 a.m. Friday) by calling 1-833-SASKVAX (1-833-727-5829), or by clicking here

The SHA is advising residents that they may be offered any of the three vaccines approved by Health Canada including Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, and Oxford/AstraZeneca. The vaccine you are offered will depend upon what supplies are available. The SHA wants to emphasize to residents that the safest shot is the first shot that is offered to you.

A vaccination pilot program involving four Moose Jaw pharmacies also opened as of Thursday, April 29. Residents can call the Co-op (Hillcrest location), Superstore, Safeway, and TLC pharmacies to book their immunization.

So far, over 50% of Moose Jaw residents over the age of 40 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine.
