UPDATE: Thursday, February 27th

28-year-old Teenie Steer was brought into Rosetown Provincial court in handcuffs. Her extended family was in the gallery, many of them were visibly shaken. The sounds of crying could be heard in the courtroom.

Steer's council, who was on the phone, asked for an adjournment of the case to a later date. The crown agreed but requested a 'no contact' order between the accused and two individuals that share her last name and a third. The three may be called as potential witnesses.

Steer's case will be re-adjourned at Rosetown Provincial Court on March 12.

Original Story Feb 26th:

On September 27th, 2018 Kindersley RCMP received a call that a one-month-old infant was in cardiac arrest. First responders and doctors at the local hospital attempted life-saving procedures. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful and the child was pronounced deceased.

An autopsy was conducted the following day to determine the cause of death. In a release provided by the RCMP, we can report that the autopsy revealed information that leads investigators to believe the infant's death was suspicious in nature. Due to the development, RCMP major crimes took over the investigation.

Yesterday investigators arrested Kindersley woman Teenie Rose Steer. The 28-year-old is now facing second-degree murder charges in relation to the death of the child. The accused is the mother of the deceased.

Steer's first court appearance has been scheduled for February 27th at Provincial Court in Rosetown. West Central Online will update the story as more information becomes available.
