The United We Roll rally entered its second day on Parliament Hill Wednesday. The convoy of trucks made their return to downtown Ottawa and lined Wellington Street in front of Parliament.

For the second day, the rally was primarily a show of unity, as there were no speeches planned.

As for how the first day went, those in attendance were happy with the results. A number of Members of Parliament, including Conservative leader Andrew Scheer, spoke to the crowd.

“He spoke, along with many of his colleagues from all over Alberta, Ontario, and Saskatchewan, that they’re in full support of what we’re bringing to the nation’s capital,” said Dale Mainil, one of the hundreds from western Canada who made the trek.

There were reports of a counter-protest at the Hill, but Mainil heaped praise on the security around Parliament for how the situation was handled.

“The security and the police on Parliament Hill did an excellent job,” Mainil explained. “They were a very small number, and we couldn’t believe it when we got back last night to the hotel room and saw the news, it wasn’t even an issue.”

Once the rally concludes Wednesday, the trucks will then begin the trek home. Mainil said he expects his truck to be back in Weyburn by Sunday.
