It's become a tradition in Moose Jaw each Labour Day Monday to head down to the Moose Jaw Union Centre for a free meal courtesy of the Moose Jaw and District Labour Council.

Today, members of several local unions will be celebrating labour day by giving back to the community.

Stacey Landin of the SEIU says it's a day to reflect on and celebrate the work done in every sector that keeps the province running and workers employed.

"Each year, we celebrate labour day in order to recognzie the work that people do," said Landin, "whether it's their paid work or whether it's their volunteer work, that's what makes our communities functions and makes them very great places to live, so we like to take the day out to recognize all of the hardworking people that live in our communities and to celebrate a little."

The Moose Jaw & District Labour Council is the local organization of the Canadian Labour Congress at the city level. The CLC represents 1.5 million unionized workers across Canada.
