Brandon Gariepy has been arrested several times for different charges, including several guns and stolen property charges.

Gariepy continues to be remanded and released, which seems to be the case with many repeat offenders.

Police were conducting a curfew check on Gariepy earlier this month and say they found and seized six guns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.

Staff Sgt. Sheldon McNaughton, says there isn't much the police can do once the case is in the court's hands.

"The crown will argue for the offender to remain in custody, and the defence may argue he can be released and we get to have our say, but ultimately it's a decision we don't get to make," says McNaughton.

McNaughton says the police force regularly monitors high-risk offenders.

"We deal with the same people on a regular basis."

"We have some officers here that work with probation on a regular basis and monitoring some high-risk offenders, and those who have curfew conditions and search conditions," says McNaughton.

McNaughton says police do not need a warrant to check the house of those with search conditions.

"We are just one of the cogs in the wheel of justice."
