Nearly 30 businesses on main street and surrounding area will be inviting trick or treaters to stop by during business hours on Thursday.

Nigel Gemmell, the owner of Gemmells shoes, spearheaded the idea.

"I think its a fun, safe environment for kids to come and have some fun, and maybe an opportunity for parents who haven't been downtown in a while to see what's new. They might discover something they didn't even know was there. The feedback we've got from businesses has been great, I'm hoping we have a really good turnout."

"It's a daytime event, I think from about 10 am-6 pm most businesses will be open. Because it falls on a Thursday night I know that there will be some businesses open until 9 pm as well. During the day is the best time to come down, it will be a bit warmer out too for people to come out."
