The Provincial Traffic Safety Fund will be providing $750,000 to 66 communities across the province for road safety projects. The announcement was made earlier this week.

The projects cover a range of initiatives from speed display signs to intersection and crosswalk improvements. The 70 projects were provided grants that range from $547 to $72,300.

“Everyone in Saskatchewan benefits from safer roads in our communities,” Minister Responsible for SGI Don Morgan said in a written statement.  “The communities who applied know their roads better than anyone, and the provincial government is pleased to assist their efforts to improve traffic safety.  The next intake for applications begins in January, and I encourage other municipalities and Indigenous lands or territories to consider applying.”

The program, which started in 2019, is funded through the proceeds of photo speed enforcement. There have been 197 projects awarded grants, totalling more than $2.25 million.
