Drivers around Crescent Park on Tuesday will need find an alternate route as crews will have the area blocked off.

The City of Moose Jaw will be closing the 200 block of Athabasca Street East on Tuesday so they can remove a tree suffering from Dutch Elm disease. The area will be blocked from 7:30am to roughly 3pm; however, barricades and signage will be in place to assist drivers trying to navigate the area.

The City asks everyone to follow the detours and use extra caution on Athabasca due to the people and equipment that will be present during this tree removal.

According to the City, this is the 18th case of Dutch Elm disease locally, and they average about 14 cases per year. This is also the final tree to be removed that has been infected.

If you see a tree in your area that you believe may have Dutch Elm Disease, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department.
