A threat of legal action has been made if the city goes ahead with a planned change to the Thatcher Drive and East Service Road Intersection.

The city wants to block left hand turns from Thatcher Driver, onto the service road... in order to improve the flow of traffic and prevent accidents at the dangerous intersection. A new report from the engineers department show 5 traffic studies, dating back more than a decade, have all recommended a median to block left hand turns onto the east service road from Thatcher Drive.

A report from SGI shows an accident is 5 times more likely by the east service road than in the actual main street intersection.

But a petition letter from John Labuick, on behalf of businesses in the area says the numbers or being over stated and the decision will take business away from area stores and restaurants.  In the letter, Labuick has threatened legal action.

The engineer's department has stated that no consultations had been held but intended to talk with businesses in the future but since our story earlier this month, businesses felt the need to start a petition and are expected at the regular meeting of council tonight.
