This year's Toy Days continued a long tradition of businesses and individuals coming together to spread Christmas joy to those in need.

The Salvation Army's annual toy drive was hosted once again at Canadian Tire. After only the 3 days, the donation bins were full to overflowing.

"When the Salvation Army had to come and empty the baskets every morning evening, they were always full," explains Canadian Tire owner Ross Leckie. "It was great."

Leckie says it was also exciting to see numerous local businesses get involved.

"The was a number who came in that came in and purchase large quantities of toys to donate."

The amount raised was particularly worth noting, given the pandemic.

"I was surprised by how many people came in to donate, especially at a time when more people are staying home right now."

The Salvation Army is expecting an even greater need this year so the number of donations is definitely welcome.
