Anytime you celebrate a birthday it’s big news, but when it’s your 95th birthday it’s something very special.  One the DiscoverMooseJaw.com year in review we feature the 95th birthday celebration of radio station 800 CHAB.

Launched in 1922 as 10AB, the station has been on the air with local news, sports and information for the past 9 and 1/2 decades. Many listeners called in to share their special memories and thoughts about the station, including long time listener Kerry Chow

"I've grown up with CHAB and I've grown old with CHAB." said Chow back in November as we hosted a party to mark the anniversary with our listeners. "It's nice to see that they're still emphasizing local sports, news and local events."

Golden West Radio President Lyndon Friesen says the history of the local radio station is actually part of Canadian history.

"CHAB is one of Canada's first radio stations. It's quite an accomplishment to, almost 100 years later, still be doing the same thing that they were set up to do when they started and that's to communicate and to connect the community."

The station marked the anniversary with a listener party and celebration on November 9th.
