A luncheon was held at the Grant Hall Hotel on August 10th, where singer and actor Tom Jackson made an initial donation of $2,000 to the Moose Jaw and District Foodbank, with more donations coming up in the near future.

Jackson gave a speech about his past work with certain charities like the Foodbanks of Canada, and on how the spirit of helping, donating, and giving time to those in need never goes wasted or unnoticed.

Jackson said this idea of giving and helping would be the theme of his much anticipated Huron Carole Festival, which will be taking place in December. Location and tour dates for the event are yet to be released.

Chief Executive Officer of the Regina Foodbank Steve Compton was present at the luncheon, and said Jackson's presentations and performances go a long way in supporting the Foodbanks.

"The importance of raising funds is you can buy the foods you need... (and put) the gas that's in the truck to collect the food from donors, and all those things... It allows us to collect food, it allows us to purchase food, and it also allows us to just to get the message out about the works that the Foodbanks are doing wherever Tom is".

Jackson ended the luncheon by playing some heart-warming songs on his guitar, and by giving a mission for everyone present to go out and help someone in need in whatever way they could.
