It's been a few years, but the 94 Calls To Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Report is getting a good look here in the city of Moose Jaw.

Mayor Fraser Tolmie introduced a notice of motion to get city administration to prepare a report on what the calls to action would mean for the city.

“I think this is very important,” he said.

He said that instead of First Nations approaching the city, that they need to get engaged as a city.

“They’re not all relevant to the city of Moose Jaw in our capacity, but what is important for us is to have some form of understanding, and for us to be able to get engaged,” Tolmie said. “I’m working with Kawacatoose First Nation and building a relationship with them, and I want to be able to say we’re doing these things. And you can do them, but you can do them with an understanding (that) its part of how we’re supposed to do business.”

The motion will come to city council at their July 8 meeting.
