Yara Centre here in Moose Jaw opened their doors in early July, with summer day camps and outdoor fitness classes opening up to the public.

Coming in August now, the fitness centre and walking track are set to open to the public on August 10.

Mayor Fraser Tolmie says there's extensive work that goes into opening a facility like Yara Centre.

"We're going to be bringing staff back, so we're going to have to retrain them and make sure that they can apply the provincial reopening plan. That's part of our logistics and we will keep the public informed about those changes."

August 13 will also mark the tentative opening date for the Kinsmen Sportsplex, with limited numbers allowed in. The waterslide and hot tub will be open, but the steam room will remain closed.

"The steam room will not be open and that's due to the fact that staff will not be able to visibly monitor this area, so we wouldn't be able to enforce social distancing." says Tolmie, "Social distancing will apply to all other areas, we're following all provincial requirements as part of the reopen Saskatchewan plan."

Full programing, as well as capacity limitations for the Sportsplex, are expected to be announced early August.
