Last week, the Newcomers Center released that they were in need of donations of winter clothing, and their need was heard.

A lot of people who arrive in the city are here as international students or here for short-term work and many of them have never experienced a Canadian winter and don't realize how cold it gets.

Those people then turn to the Newcomers Center to collect donations of winter clothing. However, the center wasn't receiving many donations and people looking for clothing were being turned away.

The Center was asking the community for good quality jackets, tuques, scarfs, mittens, socks, and boots.

Then today, Moose Jaw's U13 Mavericks arrived at the center with smiles and boxes full of winter gear. Including boots, jackets, tuques, and mittens.

There's no doubt that their donations will help some new settlers get through this winter.

Anyone looking to make a donation can drop off the clothing at the Newcomers Welcome Center's office at 423 Main St North. It's preferred for people to bring in donations, but people can call the office and have a volunteer go and pick up donations. Before dropping anything off or requesting to have it picked up, the center would like people to call the office at 306 692 6892 beforehand.
