Rumours floating around the Internet this morning have turned out to be true.  Saskatchewan's Potash Corp and Alberta's Agrium are now confirming that they have started talks about a possible merger.

The two massive fertilizer companies are each worth more than $17 billion. Each company has been struggling over the last couple of years due to a drop in potash prices.

This is the second time that Potash Corp has played with the idea of growing their global foot hold. It was just last year that Potash Corp attempted a friendly take over of K+S Potash, but it did not go through.
