Moose Jaw is now home to a pair of Syrian refugee families as the local Multicultural Council welcomed a group last night.

The 8 Syrians arrived at the Regina International Airport after several days of flying from Europe, to Toronto and then Saskatchewan before being driven to Moose Jaw.

Stefanie Palmer with the Council was there to welcome them.

"The people were tired, but the kids, when we gave them their teddy bears, had big smiles on their faces" Palmer said.  "But everyone was really happy to be here."

Palmer says today will be about getting them set up in the community with a family doctor and bank, followed by working on finding permanent housing.

The families do not speak English just yet and are working through an interpreter.
