In the afternoon of January 28, an off duty police officer spotted three vehicles driving at a high rate of speed east on Highway One toward Swift Current.

The vehicles appeared to be traveling together.

Swift Current RCMP were able to intercept them and all three vehicles were pulled over for driving at 153km/h as a group.

While speaking to the drivers and passengers of the vehicles, police became suspicious of the relationships between them and investigated further.

Two young female passengers with no identification were located in separate vehicles, each with tinted windows, and there was some indicators of human trafficking-related activity.

Arrested were Shawn Alexander Kelly and Shermineh Sheri Ziaee, both of Victoria, B.C., and Seyed Kourosh Miralinaghi and Seyed Kamran Miralinaghi, both of Nanaimo, B.C.

They are each charged with receiving financial benefit knowing it was obtained from the commission of an offense, transporting a person under the age of 18 for the purpose of exploiting them, procuring a person to offer or provide sexual services for consideration, or exercised control or movement of that person, and knowingly advertising an offer to provide sexual services.

Shermineh Sheri Ziaee is also charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The two young female passengers are from B.C. and are not related to any of the accused. Their names are not being released.

The four people charged are scheduled to make a court appearance in Swift Current Provincial Court on Friday.

The investigation is ongoing.
