Humboldt Strong signs and stickers can still be seen around Moose Jaw, now it can be seen in Crescent Park.

It was a tragedy that hit close to home and many are still honouring the 16 who passed from the Humboldt Broncos bus crash on April 6th, which inspired two summer students to plant a new garden bed Thursday morning.

Jade Bennet and Kailee Couzens had both gone to school with Evan Thomas at Vanier Collegiate High School when he played for the Moose Jaw General, which is one of the inspirations to plant the bed saying "Humboldt Strong."

"I think it was immediate because Jade brought up something about the Roughriders but we didn't really have colours or plants to do that and then I kind of thought of the Broncos and that'd be cool if we did a '#Humboldt Strong' or something," Couzens said.

Kailee Couzens, Jade Bennett, Anne Marie Stewart, Austin Drake, Johnathan Phillips, Dylan Dufresne, Dillan Pisio and Dalton Wolfe went to work and managed to plant the garden before the afternoon. The City of Moose Jaw posted the pictures on their social media pages and immediately it blew up, receiving hundreds of likes and shares.

"We got so excited about it and we liked planned out the flowers and we were even trying to find extra ones but we just kind of went with what we had and it worked out really good it looks gorgeous," Bennet added.

You can find the flower bed on the pathway at the Athabasca St E and 3rd Ave NE entrance.
