Backstreet Boys perform at their sold-out May 13 show at Mosaic Place

We relived "Old Days" with Chicago, "Listened To The Music" with the Doobie Brothers and went "Country" with Alan Jackson.  Oh, and Backstreet was "Back" as well.

2014 was more than alright for concertgoers to Mosaic Place in Moose Jaw, as the downtown arena hosted 13 major shows between January and December this year.  Ticket sales were strong for most, with the Backstreet Boys, ZZ Top, Alan Jackson and John Fogerty all selling out the downtown arena.

"It was a very good year," says Doug Campbell, Director Of Business Development for Mosaic Place.  "When the concerts are selling out it bodes well for future shows as well."

Campbell also spoke to the diversity the concerts offered in the past year, saying there was strength in quality and quantity, maintaining the momentum built in the previous year.  "In 2013 Carrie Underwood was certainly the marquee and we went 'how are we doing to top that' and we came back with 13 shows with massive artists from ZZ Top to (heavy metal band) Avenged Sevenfold to Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley and John Fogerty."

Not only did the shows pack Mosaic Place, but local restaurants also stayed busy on concert nights, providing real economic impact for the city says Campbell.  "We draw, on average, about fifty-percent of the audience (for Mosaic Place events) from a greater than fifty kilometre radius around Moose Jaw, "Campbell explained.  "Those are people that are coming in, buying food from a restaurant, buying gas."

There are no concerts announced for 2015 yet, but Campbell says to "stay tuned."  The 2015 Scotties Tournament Of Hearts will be hosted there, beginning February 14.
