In an attempt to provide relief for the 811-healthcare line that is specially set up to deal with COVID-19 concerns, the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) launched a toll-free line for non-health related questions about the coronavirus.

“We expect this new line to free up room for 811 healthcare professionals to reach more people who may be experiencing medical issues," SPSA president, Marlo Pritchard explained.

The line was launched on March 25 and is staffed from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.  Operators will be able to answer questions ranging from travel restrictions to government services and everything in between.

The number for the toll-free line open 16 hours a day is 1-855-559-5502 and for residents in Regina, 306-787-5539 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

If people have symptoms of COVID-19 or health concerns, they are encouraged to call 811.
