Two years and $360,000 and the new "Splash Landing" spray pad just opened at 15 Wing Moose Jaw. The pad is for everyone in the community to use not just 15 Wing. The focus was however on improving Military families time at 15 Wing according to Commanding Officer Denis O'Reilly explains.

"Military families are the strength behind the uniform, and anything we can do to give back to them to recognize the sacrifice they make every day, whether they are supporting a mom or dad who is deployed or just moving schools there are some military kids who do high school in 2-3 different provinces in some cases."

While military families are so important its valuable to note just how many families live at the base and just how young those families are. "So just in Bushell Park here there are 196 family units and a lot of them are very, very young, in fact, we have around 160 kids between the age of newborn to 11." explained O'Reily. "So that demographic is very young with lots of very young families because it is a training base so people are at the start of their career here."

"It does have an aviation theme because (15 Wing) Moose Jaw really exists for two main reasons one is to conduct pilot training for the Royal Canadain Air Force but also its the home to the Snowbirds and so we thought that we would recognize the tradition that goes all the way back to World War II and the British Commonwealth Air Training Program so we have a rich history of pilot training both Canadians and multinational people."

The Splash Pad was named "Splash Landing" and people can go and enjoy the park anytime.
