Normally when a long weekend rolls around gas prices seem to spike, but that isn't expected to be the case this Labour Day weekend.

Dan McTeague, a Senior Petroleum Analyst with GasBuddy, said the $1.23-$1.24-per-litre-price should stay put for the next few days.

"That will likely remain the price we're going to see into the weekend and for the long weekend," he said. "I'm not seeing anything that would disrupt that unless some gas stations feel that they're not making enough for their costs."

Right now gas stations in Moose Jaw are paying around $1.19.9 per litre.

"So at $1.23-$1.24 per litre they're probably making just enough to get by," McTeague said. "If you see prices in the $1.15-$1.16-per-litre range there's a good bet that those prices actually go up, but I'm not expecting much in the way of upsets or any surprise sticker shocks as people get to the gas pumps this long weekend."

McTeague added that he expects gas prices to go down 3-4 cents per litre around September 15 as gas stations switch to their winter blends.
