If you have to hit the roads today, but aware that it might be a bit difficult to see in some places, as Moose jaw and a large portion of southern Saskatchewan are under a fog advisory after some thick fog rolled in overnight.

The area under a Fog Advisory according to Environment Canada

According to the highway hotline, there are quite a few areas out there where visibility could be next to zero.

If you're on the roads, we'd suggest reducing your speed, watch for taillights, and be prepared to stop.

Terri Lang with Environment Canada, says we can blame the lack of wind for the fog.

"When we have a lack of weather patterns moving through like low-pressure systems with wind, which tends to stir things up and get rid of fog and low cloud, we don't have any of that moving through until probably Thursday."

Lang goes on to say that visibility won't be the only issue with the fog.

"I think there's going to be a lot of low clouds, fog and mist patches, that rime will then stick to the trees and the cars and roads."

The fog is also causing roads to be a bit wet – which of course in the cold – is subject to freezing, which is all the more reason to take your time if you're hitting the roads today.

Things are expected to clear up later this afternoon before the fog makes a return this evening.
