While the weather may be a difficult change for incoming refugees, some area doctors feel there will be other more important challenges.

The Saskatchewan Medical Association is preparing for Syrian refugees to arrive, and recently sent a letter to physicians in the province, asking for assistance to help with resettlement.

Moose Jaw Doctor Mark Brown is President of the Saskatchewan Medical Association and says that the influx of refugees doesn't have to be a burden on the system.

"If we can all just do a little bit extra, and if a family doctor could take on just one more family and look after them, it would be a way to make sure these refugees.....have proper health care" said Brown.

Brown also thinks this will help as many refugees may have health issues such as malnutrition, diabetes, or for pregnant women, no neonatal care.

Around 200 refugees are expected to come to Moose Jaw, but no word yet as to when that will happen.
