After a morning that left many drivers white-knuckling on their steering wheels, many of the highways thankfully improved throughout the day on Wednesday.

A fog advisory was also issued and continued throughout the day. According to the forecast the low visibility is expected to persist overnight on Wednesday and last through to Thursday midday.

Many drivers were left at a standstill or stuck in the middle of a slow crawl on Highway 1 near Pense around lunch, which had some drivers not moving at all for ten to twenty minutes at a time and taking back roads when possible.

For drivers hitting the highway on Wednesday evening, the Highway Hotline is sharing that winter conditions exist.

A wet system is predicted to move over the southern region including Moose Jaw, where there's a chance of freezing drizzle the could force drivers to deal with the same unfavourable conditions again on Thursday morning.
