With businesses having to close their doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic, one local company is looking to give back.

Gemmell Shoes is looking to make donations to front line workers as a way to saying thank you.

“We’ll take a portion of every purchase, and when we have enough, we’ll give away a pair of shoes to somebody, for example a cashier, who is going to be there for us and making sure that all of us have food, as a thank you to try to give back to the community too,” owner Nigel Gemmell said. “I know it’s a little thing but we’re trying to do our part.”

Gemmell said that health care workers and doctors are appreciated.

“I think we’ll get through this together if we all help each other.”

Gemmell says they are still selling shoes over the phone and through their website.
