The Saskatchewan Health Authority is ensuring that 30 'harm reduction sites' throughout the province will have safer inhalation supplies for drug users.

Pipes, screens and mouthpieces that are used to smoke crack and crystal meth are available at the sites.

Dr. Peter Butt of the SHA said "this paraphenalia that’s being made available, in terms of safer inhalation equipment, is intended to reduce the potential for transmission of bloodborne pathogens and other infections through broken glass or sharp edge tin."

The supplies will only be offered to those already using the substances, giving opportunities to educate users on the services, and this is the first time these types of supplies have been available through government funding.
