SGI Is warning residents that scammers have been targeting customers through email, posing as a bank, and asking for a photo or scan of customers driver's license.

SGI recommends if you are unsure about whether an email can be trusted or not, to contact the company through a publicly listed number and not the number within the suspect email.

If you have passed on information to a potential scammer, you are asked to contact the police and take steps suggested by the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

You're also asked to let SGI know of the potential issue. You can have your SGI information password-protected, and in order to do so, customers can go to any SGI motor license issuing office.
