2019 saw the fewest amount of people killed on Saskatchewan roads since SGI started keeping records in the 1950s.

According to a release by SGI, 71 people were killed on provincial roads last year, which is the lowest number since1951 where there were 73.

The average deaths per year over the last decade (2009-2018) have been 140.

These numbers are being released on the heels of an announcement last week from SGI, which said the number of distracted driving tickets issued in November of last year was a significant drop from previous months. December then saw even lower numbers than that.
